It has a loud dash squeak/rattle coming from the right side dash.
I have pushed all around the glovebox, top and underneath while my wife was driving and never did the pressure I was applying slow the noise down.
Maybe something down inside the dash.
Does anyone have any experience with this and can offer some suggestions.
Thanks,
I can say this....Join the club! I have the same vehicle and have been pulling what little hair I have left out trying to locate it! Mine is more of a "crack" or pop noise. I've removed the whole instrument cluster, the passenger side dash pad, radio, climate control, instrument bezel, etc. I have re-installed everything with plastic sheet (Visqueen) between layers, I've tightened (and loosened) the dash mounting screws......NOTHING WORKS!
I had the same problem on my 96. In my case it was a loose fender bolt just forward of the passenger door. The bolt is hard to see, but if you open the door and use a long extension on a ratchet, you can tighten it. Better yet, loosen it, spray some WD40 on it and then tighten it.
I had the same problem on my 96 as well. Mine turned out to be where the defrost vents meet the hard plastic dash. I wedged a few pieces of foam in there & it took care of the problem. Have your wife drive the truck & then you can reach your fingers down through the vent holes & apply pressure to see if that is the problem. Hope you get it worked out!
It can also be the A-pillar trim rubbing on the dash, or the blower box under the dash rubbing. Have had both. Good Luck, because it can drive you crazy.
be careful when messing with the vents, I was cleaning my truck during work one day gettin er all shiny with armor all and decided I would completely dismantle the vents so I could get every little nook and cranny cleaned...I found out every little piece is seperate from the casing and spent and hour putting it back together
