I just looked today to see where the cord will hook up to... So I put my truck on a lift and looked on the passenger side right above the starter and low and behold there is the hook up for the block heater cord.... I called International and asked about the block heaters and was told "all powerstroke diesels have the block heater installed from the factory." I think the dealer screwed you... If ford sells 250,000 diesels a year all they all come with block heaters, then you either have extremley bad luck, or you were taken for a ride.......Oh well, live and learn right?

No one screwed you....

Ford quit adding the cord to save money. The cord comes as a factory install on certain trucks destined for certain "cold weather" states... but this not an absolute. They cut out installing the cord just like they deleted the hood liner/insulation and the glove box light.

The heater itself is installed on all 6.0L motors by Int'l at the factory. Just order the heater cord and have it installed by the dealer or do it yourself. There is a precise way to do it to ensure that it does not rub and short out. It carries 15 amps and the heater itself draws 1,200 watts or more.

Again... no one screwed you... they just deleted it 2 years ago and people just "assumed" that it was still there like it had always been!!!

Not sure what you mean, nor who your last post is intended for. But....

I am convinced that EVERY PSD 6.0 through model year 2007 comes with the heater. NOT all come with the cord. Some will say that 'cold states' come with the cord, some will say that it is either a customer or dealer option. In either case, some will have them, some will not. If you can get your Ford dealer to put one on at no cost, good deal!! If not, you can order a cord online or go to an International dealer and get a better price.

Install is fairly easy, especially if you are not a stickler to details (I AM, so it took a little longer for me). But you can just screw the connector on and route the cord the easiest way you can find with plastic tie-wraps. Seems to me that would work just fine.

I recently moved to TX, from MO. My 05 did not have a cord. Now it does, but I doubt I will ever need it again....unless I travel home for winter holidays.

Good luck

Nice picture of the plug. I also have a oil pan heater and battery warmer so I just use a standard light 3-way and plug in the extension cord. Might consider running that 3-way into that plug that you showed.

Up here almost all trucks and cars have the complete block heater assembly. I'm sure a few of them make it up north without the cord, but that is a small %. I was told that certain Winter States the complete block heater is standard. For us its would be just a dumb to not have it as not having AC in the muggy south. Yea you can get by but why? PS I can say that being an ex Florida boy.

Ok to clarify what I stated before, I meant that all PSD's come with the block heater "element". As far as the block heater cord, I knew that most PSD's don't come with them standard, neither did my old Cummins. I don't know why, that every time I called a dealership to ask for a price on a block heater "cord", they asked me if I needed the "element" too.... They all come with the F**cken element. Sorry for any confusion I may have started. By "element" I mean the little plug above the starter where the "cord" hooks into. I am by far no expert "yet" on the PSD's, so I could be wrong. But like I said, I called international and asked them about the Block heater "element" and they stated "All"...
