Cruse control woes

I have a 04 scab lariat. When the truck is cold the cruse will work. After 5 minutes after the truck warmes up it shuts off if i hit the resume button it will work for 2 seconds then thats it it wont work untill the truck sits and cools down then the same thing all over again. The tranny has been serviced with filter and other than the cruse it seems to run fine. I checked for trouble codes with my elmscan and found none. I have 56000 miles on it. If there are any ford techs out there that have maybe seen this before ore any one else with any ideas your help would be appreciated. Thanks

check the cruise deactivation switch under the dash above the brake light switch, it works exactly opposite of the brake light switch, you should have power on both sides of that switch when not pressing on the brake

I was sent a recall in the mail about the cruise control, didn't read much about it though because i never use it.

does it have the floor shift ? if so it is the shift interlock selinoid on the shifter there is a tsb for this prob

You might want to take it in and have the Cruise Control Mod done as it is to your benifit. It has been reported that fires have started in Cruise Control circuit even with the ignition off and vehicle unattended and it's a simple dealer modification and it's at no cost to you.
