Brake dummy light on dash.
#34
mine also... Big one closest to the booster
Before you drive it again, u need to see if the brakes are functioning properly... If not, in addition to being stupid and reckless, you're setting yourself up for a lawsuit... I mean absolutly no offence, but theese trucks arent light, or wimpy. You can kill people with a geo metro, but you're in a tough f-series pickup... The danger is to others...
It's really easy to test if they're working properly, it's a two idiot job though (one to step on the brakes, the other to try and turn the tires)
Here's a really quick walkthrough, it's very simple, and I hope I dont insult you by posting it... but i feel strongly about brakes, so, here goes...
I usually reccomend jackstands, but for this, it's not nessisary because you're not going under it...
Jack up a corner of the truck, and turn the wheel in both directions... Check for catching, binding, dragging or scraping... SOME scraping is acceptable, but it shouldnt be hard to turn. Then have someone step on the brakes, and see if it stops turning (in both directions)
And, because it most likely needs it, I say replace all of the brake fluid. Suck almost everything out of the master cylinder, and replace it with fresh stuff... then, bleed the brakes a few times...
Good luck, I spent around $400 fixing mine... They're brand new right now... brand freekin new.... It doesnt run good, but it sure as hell WILL stop good
