Got a pan question for you all today. I'm having a 390 built up for my 73 F100 4wd. My truck has a rear sump pan. I was going to go get a pan from the junk yard but was not sure if there were different rear sump pans for the FE. Will a rear sump pan from a 75 F150 work with my truck?
I want to have the 390 that is being built finished as a complete motor and not have to swap parts from my old 390.
Yes it will work, if you get the junkyard one see if you can get the oil pick-up and the main cap bolt that holds it up, if you don't need then, they make good trade stock for the 4x4 guys.
Yes, on keeping the 4wd stuff. They hold their value. You may not need the schit and the old lady will complain, but they are worth their weight in gold. I've got so much ford crap stuffed in the barn, along with extra rigs out in the field. It doesn't help when you've already got 4 fords(3 of them 4wd) and you're uncle calls you and says he got a a runnin' 73 2wd 4door with a 390/c6, and tells you to come take it off his hands.
BTW, I'm looking for a 600 holley, vac. sec., with mech. choke, if anyone needs some 4wd stuff.
Got a pile of 1850 manual chokes. Where you at? Whatcha got? I have a dozen 4x4 FE pans, but never know what junk you have that would be a treasure to me.
Hell, I'm just across the Columbia in Vancouver, but all my stuff is up on my property is up at my house on my property in Kelso. I've got 69 F250 4x4 with posi rear (373s) and overloads in rear, but is has got a 400 in her. She's my wood hauler and mud rig. Can't hurt her. Also got my 75 hi-goy that I'm slowly restoring. USed to be ol mans rig. ropping a 390 in her. Got a 79, but only a f150, that is for parts. Got a 351 in her. I was told was cleveland, but I haven't messed with it and haven't researched enuf to find out if it is or not. I suspect it's only a 351M thou. got a 70 2wd sport custom with no motor, and that 73 4 door with smokin a little 390. Got extra c6's trannies, about 3 extra fe blocks and running 36o that I pulled outta the sport custom to use as a temporary motor for 75 for about 6 months. Just pulled it out and dropping 390 back in it. Should be in it in about 2 weeks. Need a carb for it. Almost bought holley 600 today. Got drivelines stored away. and mics. motor stuff for FEs. What are YOU looking for?
Got any decent 1850s you wanna git rid of? I can rebuild if need be.
Theres a set of FE valve cover on craiglist right now in hillsboro for $85, i think. Those would be nice touch on a motor.
Mike
How's the body on that engineless 70 sport custom? I'm in the market for a good F-100 longbed frame and 70-72 body. I'm also a fellow craigslist junkie. I keep eyeballing that 2100 RPM FE stall converter for $75, but I don't own anything with an auto.
I think I've still got one or two 1850's that I put new holley kits in on the shelf. Also have 2 1850 carbs loaned out to a friend. I don't know why he can't get his own carbs.
Went to the junk yard today and scored some good stuff. Got a rear sump pan, pickup tube, rear sump tube main bolt for the pickup tube, dip stick and tube from a 74 F100 4wd. I also got some perfect side body trim off the same truck. The trim is about 1 to 1.25 inches wide and will certainly dress up my rig a litte.
Oh I also got a complete set of painted valve covers, rockers, bolts, and push rods. And I almost forgot, I also got the trim that goes around the rear of the cab and tail light trim.
All this for $130.00. To me, the trim was worth that alone!
