I just dropped my newly rebuilt 302 in my 87 F150. The problem is that I turn the key and nothing happens. All the wires are hooked up properly to the starter, thats been cleared up by a previous post. Any suggestions?

 

Try applying 12 volts to the small connector on the solenoid switch. It should start if you turn the key to on or at least crank.

 

Check all your battery grounds, including the ones hooked up to the engine block, firewall, and Batt. grounds. Since a new motor was installed. recheck all straps.

Also, jump the starter solenoid on the pass. fender with a screwdriver shaft and see if power at it, or at least turns motor over.

 

Push in the clutch... Then try turning the key :-P
