I have a 99 Mazda B3000 4door that when you open the drivers door the warning chimes go off on until you close the door again. No lights are on and the key isn't even in the ignition. I can't even find the door light switch on it. Has anybody had this problem before? When I went to work this morning it worked normal, but when I got to the parking lot it did it again.
That's rather odd. The circuit controlling the chimes is getting power when it's not supposed to have power. Quite interesting indeed. Let me see if I can turn up a wiring diagram for that year and model.
I would welcome any ideas because it does't make sense to me. Heck if I could even find out how to make it think the door was closed I would settle for that in a pinch, but I don't see any switch like other cars I have had. Having the interior light come on isn't a must with me.
Wait...you said "if I could even find out how to make it think the door was closed". So you're cool with just flat out deleting that little feature? I think there MIGHT be a fuse for it, but don't quote me on that. And I don't have the wiring diagram for that paticular system and year.
Check the fuse box if you really don't mind losing it. Otherwise, hopefully someone else can be of more assistance.
Theres a micro swtch in the ignition lock cylinder that senses when the key is removed. When the idiot thing is dinging away, try shoving the key in and out of the ignition switch. Does the dinging stop?
Tried the key thing tonight when I went to work and it seems to work. A friend had suggested squirting WD40 in the switch and then run the key in and out a few times. Guess I'll try that when I get home this morning if I remember.
