2011 f150 door ajar warning won't go away.

My f150 out of the blue says "driver door ajar" when I was on the highway today. The interior lights also came on. I opened the door several times, even slammed it. But still the warning will not go away. When I shut it off and get out, the chime and lights stay on until the accessories time out after 15 minutes. What do I do to fix this? Will be hard to drive at night with the interior lights on. Thanks.

Try some WD40 into the locking mechanism. It's the first thing I've tried that works

Nice to see they have the same problem as my 2000 superduty had.

I learned the lubricant in the latch years ago when I had my 2000 F-150. The dealer service department told me over the phone to try that.

Well it's back to acting up. I sprayed a full can of wd40 while working the door open and closed. But it will not help this time. Where is the sensor located? Do I need to replace the latch? Thanks.

Just the driver door. It's funny because it has been acting up in above freezing temps. But tonight it has dipped below freezing, and now works fine. I'm stumped.

Spray all door latches then open and close them a few times to work the lube into them.

try white lithium grease.

attracts less dirt than WD, and has better creep properties.

that's what i use.

i've used PB blaster with good success as well, but it does attract more dirt than the lithium grease.

Back to acting up again, this time it's 30 below outside. I can't even use my remote start. Do I need to replace the latch to correct this? Dealer says to keep spraying it. I'm running out of patience. I have had 3 other Fords and have never had a problem.

My 03 expedition has this issue. Never has really gone away. I just live with it.

I could live with it. But it makes it so I can't use my remote start.

That sounds frustrating, tractorfan. Have you been back to your dealer so they can check this out? Let me know when they've had a chance to diagnose and I'll do what I can to help.

I believe these switches are in the latch itself.
Have latch replaced.
