OK, I have finally broke down and ordered a set of Flowtech headers for my '72 302/C4. They should be in my hands this week. Has anyone out there installed these headers in there truck and if so can you give me any pointers on the installation? Ie. do I have to remove any cross members, remove the starter or lift the engine?
I used to have a 71 and you had to remove the started to get the passenger side of the headers on. You had to put them in at the same time or they wouldn't clear each other, man was that fun!!!!!!!!!

Sedric,
I knew you would get them sooner or later! Leave the starter on. Disconnect your motor mounts and jack the motor up so it leans to one side. Then with luck, you'll be able to sneak one side in. My Hookers went in from the bottom. I thought that was rather strange. Then jack up the other side and do the same. It's a painful process but, you'll be good at it, after your through. See if you can find a heat shield for your starter. It's much cheaper than a starter. You'll never thank me for this advice but, you'll never curse your headers for burning up your starter either.
Thanks for the help...that doesn't sound too bad. I got another truck to drive so even if it takes me awhile it doesn't matter.
By the way, when I took that new dual exhaust system of mine apart I found that where the pipes mate to the manifold they had put in a short section of 1 1/2" pipe with a steel ring around it. As you probably know the manifold flange has a beveled edge and the pipes were flared so they needed that steel donut between the two. Anyway all my flow was going through a 1 1/2" restriction...no wonder I didn't notice much increase in performance or sound! Live and learn.
