I still have the factory remote mirror on my '69 Ranger. It looks good on the truck, but really is too small for practical use. The passenger side stationary mirror that came on the trucks did not exactly match the remote mirror and was the standard small mirror oddly enough. The truck remote mirror looked real similar to the ones that were put on 67 Fairlanes and Mustangs but were just slightly larger.

Here is a question about a possible factory option. I just purchased a 72' Sport Custom F100 with steps built into the side of the bed. They are metal steps in the shape of a half moon and are embedded into the bed itself. I have never seen one like this before. Is this a factory option or just a later add-on? Thanks for the help.
I think the rarest options are the 68-69 explorer specials.
the 69's are so rare that most people have only seen the option package on promo postcards and factory literature.
can a after market in the frame gas tank be found in the aftermarket world??? i would love to get mine out from behind the seat .. but will the frame one go wher the spair tire is now ??
my 68 f100 sport custom fleetside has a storage compartment with locking door on the passenger side of the bed, between the front of the bed section and the rear wheel. do they all have that? lol
I have a 1971 Explorer which had an unusual combination of features. A chrome front bumper and door switches for the interior light were standard on all 71s except with this package, which deleted the switches and used a painted bumper. It added a bright drip rail molding, a couple of special colors, and upgraded seat and door panels. I think the price was less than a regular Custom.
My '71 Sport Custom SWB came with two spare tire mounts inside the bed. This allowed mounting a spare tire on each side of the bed in the front. Has anyone else seen this arrangement?
I am the proud owner of a 69 F100 Contractors Special.
Yup, that's right until bought this beast I had never even heard of one let alone seen one. Not even in a catalog, manual or magazine and I have FORD parts dealership experience, hell my brother is a FORD certified Master Tech and he's never heard of that option!
Now more then ever I've been able to find information that confirms the actual Contractor Special option and it's a bare bones one for sure!

72 f250 sportcustom all green interior and exterior this should prove that there are different models of camperspecials. Include ing 25 gallon in frame fuel tank and cab tank and stowbox all green glass.chrome taillight trim and tailgate trim. And green steeringwheel. None of which is replaceable.so stay away from all green interior trucks.and green trucks that the green paint doesn't exist.also it shows that there are many different options.

I installed a side mount spare carrier in my truck. I mounted it behind driver side inside the bed. I know below the bed was normal configuration, but my truck did not have one. It was removed some time in its past. The bed mount does have its pluses and minuses, but I prefer it over the one under the bed.
