Alignment after new shocks??
Alignment after new shocks??
Bilstein is telling folks to check alignment after a shock replace. Never thought about, or have done this before.
Any comments or experience? I'm getting ready to replace front shocks, but would not have thought about alignment.

I don't think it's necessary.
Shocks don't really support any load, so I don't see how your alignment would change.
While gas shocks do want to "extend," the amount of force is so small that I don't think it would affect geometry at all.
Just my two cents...

yeah, what pronstar said. I'm really trying to figure out how a shock would affect the alignment. Maybe they think you'll bump something outta whack while you're down there? I dunno. I've never had or had to have an aligment after changing shocks.
i just got bilsteins on all four corners yesterday. I noticed no change, just waaaay less bodyroll and virtually no dive under braking. These things are awesome! I cannot feel any alignment change, so that makes four of us. However be sure to retighten the nuts on those bilsteins after about fity miles of driving.
Duly noted on retightening. I wish Bilstein made replacement air shocks for the front of my LLS Expy. Unfortunately, guess I'll have to go with either factory OEM or Monroes for the front.
