Hi, I'm new to this forum, if I err please excuse me. I have a '97 F-350 crew 4x4. I purchased this truck 4 months ago from a goverment fleet auction. Has 55,000 miles. Every once in a while I will run over a pothole or something and front end starts to vibrate (like bad alignment type of vibration-only worse). Seems to happen only when RH front tire hits obstruction and going about 20-25 mph. Have had front end aligned, changed shocks (all 4), changed steering tie rod assembly. Thought that replacing all of those items would take care of the problem, but happened again today. Any input would be greatly appreciated, and by the way, this is a great forum, thanks.
I dont know what it is, but you could try a steering stabilizer to nullify or at least minimize the vibrations. I dont know much about power steering, but you could have a weak pump. Are your brakes weak, soft, or spongy feeling?
I like the idea of a stabilizer, will look into that option for sure. Rear brakes were replaced when I first got the truck, front brakes still had 40% left. Brakes feel normal, power steering pump does have a whine to it when turning wheel in either direction.
Your pump or steering gearbox is more than likely failing. Mine whined and then went out. Same on my friends EB Bronco. He is on his second pump and this one is going out as well.
I would agree with srd4x4 this was happening to me on my 99 f150, turned out I lost a bolt on the drivers side of the trac bar so when I hit a bump it would vibrate.
Thanks for the input srd4x4 and ssKable. Will I be able to find these bushings aftermarket? Do they come only in rubber or urethane as well? Thanks again for all the help.
