Spring swap and alignment?

I just replaced the front leaf springs on the Ex. with Pro Comps 22210 which give a 2-3 inch lift. The instructions said you have to do an alignment after the swap but I don't remember anyone on the forum saying anything about an alignment. Is an alignment necessary?

When I had my front lift springs swapped out they did an alignment. Not sure that it was absolutely needed, but I'd rather pay for an alignment than an expensive set of tires.
