Has anyone tuned an F150 using E85 with the Edge Evolution??
Just wondering what kind of performance gain one would get since from what i understand E85 has higher octane (105) rating than premium gas.
Hmmm... it's not just octane level but also the amount of fuel needed. Could the injectors withstand that load? I don't know. Would you get premature firing because the 15% gas in there doesn't have 105 octane? Again I don't know. Also, E85 by itself knocks down your milage by about 25%, so with a tuner it would be an insane drop. But if these problems can be overcome, I think it would be great to try.
Not necesarrily true. I think if you ran the high performance tune, the 92? or what ever is listed and then add in E85, the time will have been increased even more. I'd bet you'd get not only performance, but most of your mileage back.
My thinking was unless you have a flex fuel vehicle, you probably shouldn't be running E85 in the first place.
Now, if you do have one of the new Flex Fuel F150's, is there an Edge or similar tuner available for it, and is it different than the regular tuner? Would the regular tuner be compatible with the Flex Fuel F150?
I'm on my third tank of E85 and have been running the Edge Tuner. The first two tanks the Edge was set at level 2. I did not notice any difference in power and all worked fine. I set the Edge at level 3 on my last fill up of E85 and it's working just fine. I've been using the standard tuning and haven't modified anything. I've posted my MPG in another post and I'll update that post when I refuel.
Here is the response I received from Edge before I used E85-
There should be no problem running a higher octane fuel with the Evolution. If you run level 3, I would just monitor how the truck responds, if you get any knocking or detonation you may need to program to a lower level or adjust the timing down to eliminate the knock. We do not test with E85, as it is not available here. If you have any further questions, let us know.
