Rad Supports

How many variations af rad supports are there for these years? I have 3 that have all been taken off of 4x4 67-72 trucks and they're all different. The difference I have noticed is by the hood latches. The holes to bolt them up are in different places and one of the rad supports has a round thing on the top in the center. I don't know what's up with that one, the hood wasn't on the truck. Maybe it's from a 2 wheel drive? What is the value of a rust free rad support where you live? The reason I'm asking is because some guy wants to buy the one with the weird round thing, and it is perfect, and I want to make sure it'll work on his 70 F250, while not getting ripped off.

The presence of that round pad on top of your rad brace indicates that it's a 73-79 piece, not the earlier one. The newer hoods have a spring mounted on them that contacts the top of the brace to push the hood up when the latch is pulled. This and the latch mounting holes are about the only differences and you should have no problem installing it in an older truck. I have seen the newer inner fenders installed in 67-72's as well. The main difference there is the hood hinge is positioned on the outside of the rib.

Rad Supports

All 67 to 72 F100 to F350 core sopports are the same and will innerchange with each other with the exception of the size of the opening for the radiator. 6 Cyl. trucks had a smaller opening while V8's had a larger opening. Most 67 core supports are more prone to rust as I believe that ford added additional drainage holes in 68 to lessen the concern. It has been by experence that 68/69 and up trucks have a little different hood latch mechanisim than 67 trucks. The latter 68/69 and up latch is innerchangable with 67 models if you use the complete latch and the peice that attches to the core support.

The 73 to 79 latchs are totally different and I have not found a good way to adapt them to a 67 to 72. 73 to 79 core supports look very close to the 67 to 72 ones but I have never tried to swap one

As for core support prices, they usually seen to run anywhere from 60 to 90 bucks depending on condition. In my opinion, they are a real hassle to change.

Your may find differently on your truck(s), but this is what I have noticed for the most part as I currently have 4 67-72 trucks and have had 8 73 to 79 trucks.
