I have a 73 F250 4x4 and I'm trying to figure out what goes under the hood assist spring. the spring is mounted to the front underside of the hood near the latch hook and hits against the rad support just in front of the rad. The rad support has a round area about 1.5" with an unthreaded hole in the center.
The question is, what is supposed to go in the hole that's in the rad support. I've looked at the junk yards, but everyone I see has nothing there. I'm guessing it's a rubber stopper of some type.
I bought some time before I have to change mine by grabbing the bottom of the spring and stretching it way out. It now opens the hood most of the time whereas it wouldn't before.
