Brake pedal is fine when engine is off- but goes to the floor when engine is running.
(Brakes have been bled- new master cyl.-)
I've seen this topic before but can't find the thread. Does someone remember the answer?
If you are certain that your master cylinder is good and that your brakes are properly bled, it is probably your vacuum booster. I've had them go out and do this.
disconnect the vacuum line from the booster (plug the line going to the engine) and check the brakes, they should work, but hard to apply, if so the booster is bad.
You may still have air in the lines, did you prime the master before you installed?
Thanks Jerry and Aquanaut, Not even the brake shop here has a clue. I put on a different master cyl today and same result- yes I bench bled them- then took the Explorer to Brakes Plus for a power bleed and after that they said the (new) Master cyl was bad. That makes 3 "bad ones" I have- I'll try the booster test and see what happens. I bet you guys have it!
I'll throw this suggestion out to everyone..... could his problem be RABS related? I seem to recall there is a special bleeding procedure that needs to be followed if equipped with RABS.. any thoughts?
