Transfer case question

I have an 1985 f150 4x4 it has a NP208 transfer case and im thinking of rebuilding it or replacing it, i can get a BW 1356 out of a 1989 F350 and i was wondering if my drive shafts, and shifter would work on it. wich transfer case would be a better one?

What qualities do you consider "better?" I would say your parts wouldn't fit the other one because they are two different parts.

i wouldn't waste my time rebuilding the 208... i give those cases a lot of credit considering what all i put mine through but i dont think they are worth rebuilding. i would try and find another one sitting under a truck somewhere. prolly pick it up for $100 at most.

whats wrong exactly with your current 208?

It was already making some noise but now the front drive shaft seal was leaking so i put a new seal in it but because the yoke is worn it still leaks so didn't want to waste any more money getting a new seal and yoke for this old T-case, i looked around at wrecking yards and all the used yokes they have are just as bad as mine. On of my friends has a wrecked 1989 F350 that he is parting out, it has a BW1356 T-case he said he would sell it to me for less than any other used T-case i could find so thats why i was wondering if my drive shafts would fit on a F350 T-case.

it'll fit, you'll have to see if the 1356 has a slip yoke/fixed yoke/flange to see whether it'll fit.. worst case, you could steal the drive shaft from the F350 and have it cut down to fit your truck.

the 1356 is heavy duty. the chain is wider; but sometimes the pumps break and cause big damage to the guts.

My truck has a slip yoke and the F350 has a slip yoke as well, so would they both have the same size yoke and the same amount of splines?
