Ok heres my issue
i have a 2001 f150 4x4 5.4l with the auto tranny
so i have been noticing a oil spot under the truck and i realized that the oil is coming from the gasket between the transfer case and transmission where they both connect, anyways so me and a buddy unbolted the transfer case from the tranny that wasnt so bad and we unbolted the transfer case mount from the torsion bar holder thing so the transfer case is free except here is where im stuck, its all unbolted as far as i can tell but it still isnt coming free??? And yes the 2 driveshafts are unbolted and taken off.... Any help would be greatly appreciated!
It sounds like you unbolted the tail shaft housing from the trans and not the t-case from the tail housing. The two big nuts that you unbolted under the cross member is the trans mount. The t-case does not have a mount and is just bolted to the transmission tail housing. If you are able to, post some pics of what you have done.
Sounds like the front input shaft seal on the t-case is bad.fordmerc is right, the t-case is bolted to the adapter(the adapter bolts the transmission and tcase together). Just unbolt all the bolt from the adapter and the tcase should come right off...its a splined shaft.
