Mounting problem w/ new chrome bumper.....

I don't know what magazines y'all read, but one of the classic truck suppliers has been selling bumpers sort of cheap. Well, I picked up a new chrome rear bumper to replace my old industial bumper. Do you know what I mean by industrial? It is very boxy and looks welded together. Anyway, I see alot of our trucks (67-72) w/ them so I don't think they are rare or anything. Well, my problem is that the industrial bumper and brackets are all one piece. The new chrome bumper bolts on like the front bumper w/ the exposed bolt heads. Well, there is no where to bolt the new chrome bumper. There are no brackets. I have been calling around and no one has brackets for a style side. Is there anyone out there that has a chrome rear bumper that could tell me whats going on? Is there brackets inbetween the bumper and frame? Did I get screwed on this one?

You need the brackets. When I bought my truck it had no rear bumper and I originally wanted to put on the chrome one like you. The problem is nobody sells the brackets that go with it. I checked the boneyards for a while and not one truck ever had a chrome bumper, beat up or not, that I could even scrounge the brackets. So instead I opted for a real nice late 60's vintage step bumper with a genuine Ford script license plate light. Sorry I’m not much help.

Auston The salvage yards are about the only place to get them, and they can go as high as $75.00 a pair.

Brackets are out there. I got a set with my new chrome bumper for around $20.

This isn't where I got mine, but these guys have the mounting kits. Give them a call.

I thought we were talking about the brackets for the original car style rear chrome bumper, not the aftermarket step bumpers.
