i have an 04 f-150 fx4 that is black with the painted bumpers on it. i bought it brand new and i always scratched my head and thought what was ford thinking. well it has got to the point now where the paint is falling off my rear bumper so i was going to buy a new one. how would a chrome rear bumper look with a painted front bumper? i have chrome rocker panels on it as well. or should i just get another black bumper?
what about sandblasting your existing bumper and powder coating it as an alternative to a new one? powder coating is supposed to be good and tough, but maybe some of the other peeps on here may have something else to say. I was just thinking that blasting and powdercoating may be cheaper thats all.
we have an automated powder coating line where i work and could easily throw it on and send it through but the bad thing is black is really hard to match up and if it isn't close it might not look right. i also have a buddy that has an auto body shop and i thought about taking it off and brining it in to him and have him get it blasted and smoothened and painted for me. maybe do it this spring and i can drive the 78 ford to work for a week.

Black truck and you have chrome look rocker panels covers now? I'ld look for two chrome bumpers, one for each end .... if it were me. Right vehicle, I like chrome.
An alternative is simply to rip the chrome rocker covers off and have rockers and front and rear bumpers "Line-X" coated in black with UV coating and NO traction additive so it looks more like the texture of a drop in liner.
i wouldn't mind spending the money if i was going to keep the truck but i have so many extra's and low miles where i always have ppl harassing me to buy it and i am thinking about letting it go in about a year for a 4 door. still i am not going to screw anyone over. i think my best bet is going to be have the rear bumper sand blasted matched and painted to original and i get an excuse to drive the dentside to work for a week
