Mrs. Bear volunteered to be a chaperone at our HS Senior prom Saturday. she also informed me that, if she was going to the prom, She was going to go with a date. Sooooo.....
1) Should I get her a corsage? We're chaperones, remember.
2) Tux or suit and tie?
3) Cowboy boots or loafers?
4) What to drive?
This is being held downtown, so it'll either be underground parking or on the street- if you can find something. The choices are:
The King Ranch Crew. Cool factor outweighed by size, and the lift means it probably won't fit inside the parking garage.
The Grand Marquis: driver of choice if you don't want to be noticed, but ever so comfy and practical.
A Corvette off of the lot. To me, a no brainer, as long as the car doesn't get keyed/dinged while parked.
The HHR. Small size makes it an ideal in-town ride.
What does FTE think?

I dont know...
2) Tux or suit and tie?
Suit and Tie
3) Cowboy boots or loafers?
Boots, of course.
4) What to drive?
The vette or marquis. No one will see it anyway probably.
Consider...Vette (screams mid life crisis), Grand Marquis (screams old man)....its your choice. I wouldnt chance the SD though.
C,mon Ernie, treat your bride and yourself to something special. Go all out. Corsage, tux (with cowboy boots as a personal twist) and definitely a nice set of wheels - the Vette. Prom time is for dress up and women still love to do this no matter what age. Take advantage of the opportunity.
It all depends on what you think you are going to get in return. If you get a significant return on investment, go for it. If you get a low return, go cheap and leave early.
One idea not mentioned is to buy her a date and you can stay home on the couch with your beer and TV. That is not likely to produce a "Happy Ending" though.
But in answer to your questions.
1) Corsage? Yes but not over the top. Just a little something to let her know that you are not the insensitive, uncaring clod that you sometimes act like. (I just described me it may or may not fit you)
2)Tux/Suit & Tie? How fancy is she going to be dressed? I think a nice suit and tie, not the t-shirt made to look like a tuxedo, would be fine
3)Loafers/cowboy boots? Can you dance in both? You know there will be at least 1 dance required of you that night. If you can dance in boots then I think you get cool points with boots.
4) Car? My personal choice would be the King Ranch. Nice and ROOMY..
I would go with the Vette though. Classy, Fast and a total 10 on the cool factor, especially if she don't know that is what you are taking her in.
And one thing you didn't mention was dinner. FOR GOD'S SAKE DO NOT MAKE HER COOK DINNER. Make reservations at a nice resturant. Makes the evening all that more enjoyable for you both.
1 YES
2 if the students are wearing tuxes, get a tux
3 SEE #2
4 Lifted truck would be cool but wont fit inside Corvettes are cool but common, how bought an SSR?
as far as dinner, it was served at my prom, if no dinner served, take her out.
1) Should I get her a corsage? We're chaperones, remember. .....Be safe, buy the flower.
2) Tux or suit and tie? ...... the suit
3) Cowboy boots or loafers? ...... I'm from Texas, you have to ask?
4) What to drive? ...... any excuse for the Vette is valid.
Dono

3. Whatever will make Mrs. Bear happy.
4. The King Ranch. And hope the place has valet parking.
