Pre-pump mod

Hey fte'rs , I spend most of my time on the 01 site but have a question ? I'm working on a 96 psd and noticed that it has the quik-connect fittings on the fuel pump that is on the frame rail, is there also a problem with this year model with air being pulled in and getting into the fuel lines and is the pre-pump tank mod necessary ? Thanks

Do you have a picture of it? Ford did not put an electric in-line pump n the PSD until 99. The 96 has a mechanical pump mounted in the engine valley below the turbo.

i think the difference is that the pump on the obs is low pressure lift pump then it has a second stage to pressurize the fuel. the superduties has a high pressure lift the whole way. so by drawing the fuel at low pressures the air does get sucked in.
