I did a search, but couldn't find anything. I purchased a 73 F100 as a donor for disk brakes for my 67. Got to looking at the 73 and started wondering (I know, shouldn't do that) if the 67 body and bed would mount on the 73 frame. I know that the 73 cab is 4 inches longer, but can it work? I do have a sawzall and a welder.
Mike,
John is tellin' ya right man! A frame swap is the route to go to upgrade IHMO
My 66 sits on a rare '79, F-150, SWB, Trailer Spcl, Frame with dual anti sway bars, some huge F-250 size front disc brakes, and a 31 Spline 4 pinion 9" FoMoCo rear axle. All with 5 on 5.5 Standard FoMoCo light duty lug pattern and I wouldn't have it any other way after doing it that way.
My F-100 from the middle of tha last century it the last millennium is now comfortably dominant in the 21st century, here in this the Y2K Millennium. It's a Nasty l'il Ford pick up truck hated by Brand X, Goat Trucks & BMWs. In fact I'm the FORDBOY in the bumper sticker they use that says "Bite Me FORDBOY" so I do with a snotty F-150/460 built with road suspension. Got a copy of a "worlds Best" Driving Machine? Bring it on!
Fuel goes into a tank behind my rear end & NOT Behind me & my seat, leaving a great stash space for tunes, cooler & what have ya'. I've a split back bench fron a 78 Super Cab, it folds down. I can grab a cool 1 or a "kewl" 1 as I roll along not breaking stride.
I probably did a dozen parts swappin' upgrades B4 I realized the frames were so similar that I could swap bodies easier & faster than swap parts. Plus I got no load of fuel sharing my space in the cab. . . . Duh !
Also made the 460 & tranny a natural, altho' FoMoCo never used the 460 in a SWB, my F-150 had a 351/400M pig iron engine which I was glad to lose in favor of the 460.
I doubt I'll ever swap brakes & steering again like I used to do FWIW.
Hey Mike, is that little Country Bar still in the middle of downtown Archer, up on the hill there on US 27 south, just off of highway 24? They used to have some real great Bikini State bands in there, back in the day. . .

Is there some inherent advantage to a 73 and up frame over a 67 - 72 frame? I know the frame widens behind the cab but does this have any advantage other than making it easier to fit a "between the rails" gas tank?
I know 1 ton frames are taller than 1/2 ton frames in 67 - 72's I assume that is the same with 73's on up? Anyone ever considered welding two 67 - 72 straight frames together one inside of the other to form a fully boxed super beefy frame?
It's all about "footprint" and +3" width makes the rear track as wide as the front after 73, and +2" length makes it transplant its' "footprint" that much better under the loud pedal application.
If ya don't push the envelope with your truck none of that matters, but if you think the "Brand X-ers" are just a human form of Gnats, then every little bit helps. Or at least it does in my case.
And, by the way, I do push the envelope ever time I drive my 67. Of course on my 67 pushing the envelope means shifting from granny 1st into 2nd gear! :-)
