they way i understood it as (i talked to a mechanic) on the ford rearends its designed to act more along the lines of a "wind up car" one tire spins (as if it is wrapping up a rubberband) and when i goes around soo many times it forces the other to start spinning, but in most cases this design doesnt work quite as it is spose to orr you tend to let off before the other tire ever gets a chance to move because if u are off road in many cases u could be stuck b4 the other tirre gets moving, we had it all figured out on my dads superduty when we were out mudding, i wish all trucks had posi, front lockouts like the superduties but on both axles so u could lock all 4 in at once

I have LS in my truck and it works good. One wheel will slip the other will lock it
does not have to spin a lot either hope this helps take it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it.

a easy way of telling if you have the limited slip is to look at the rear diff tag if it has a L in front of the ratio number it is a locker
