I have a 66 and it has been hit on the rh front corner and core support is foobared and rusted. What years will fit my 66 will a later model like 73 - 79 work? or does anyone have a good one for a 66 for sale?
65 and 66 are differant also only in the way the radiator mounts. So if you purchase a 65 support you will have to get a 65 radiator. I installed a 66 in my 65 and had to build brackets for the radiator and battery.
They Make replacement support cores with the instructions on how to make them fit. It's a Decent, well designed & built "re-Pro" part and several guys here have gotten & used them already.
Banjopicker66 posted all about them a few months ago right here. He gave all the Info you would need.

If you are interested in auction and shipping does not put price out of ball park, suggest email seller and inquire as to year and model of donor truck. According to Hollander interchange manual, the 65 4X2 core supports is interchangeable with the 66 F100 4X4. and the 65 F100 4X4 is interchangeable with the 66 F250 4X4. The 66 F100 4X2 is not interchangeable. That being said, took a 66 core and place in my 65 and found there was a difference with the inner fender sheet metal. Went back and got the donor inner fenders and with slight modification reassembled. Seem to recall 1 is more of a box design and the other somewhat rounded. Regardless, would think the core support on auction would require less to modify than an aftermarket. Perhaps more knowledgeable member can advise.
Hmmm... I looked at the one on eBay, but I'm not enough of an expert. It definitely has the square type inner fenders, though. The earlier ones, '61-'64, have rounded inner fenders. I think some of the 4X4's do, too.
4x4s should have round inner fenders.
You can use any core support on any truck, provided you are willing to cut and reweld the appropriate mounts for inner fenders, radiator or battery tray.
4x2 65-66 are made for square inner fenders.
65 has the oddball radiator supports.
66 reverts back to a similar radiator mounting to the 61-64.
Newer truck core supports won't work, as they are physically a much different size.
The 66 F-100 4x4 has the square inner fenders, the mouting is a little differant, I had a 65 2wd core support on my 66 4wd and it worked with a little ajustment. The radiator mounts on the 65 2wd core support and the 66 4wd were the same, but the 66 2wd that my son has, the radiator mounts backwards. When I replaced the radiator we switched the brackets around on the radiator.
