Has anybody ever purchased a faulty vss? The dealer diagnosed and replaced mine but it still seems like it is not right. The E4OD wants to shift way too soon, especially out of first. Could the new vss be bad or is there something mimicing the problem? They reflashed the computer and it did not help. thanks.

it could be the new shifting parameters of the new pcm code that you are not used to.
I had thought about that. However, with a 10,000 pound trailer behind it, it is shifting way too early. It seems to do only do it when the truck is warm. I had even wondered if the oil in the rear was getting hot and altering the signal. Any more ideas would be greatly appreciated. It is not throwing any codes and my dealership mechanic probably thinks I am imagining it all. thanks
The signal from the VSS won't be altered by heat; too much heat would make it pulse on & off or shut it down completely as the clearance between to VSS and exciter ring grew. Any change would be immediately visible on the speedometer.
My truck started shifting too soon and it would shift in/out of OD at random times. Turned out my programmer didn't return the full stock code when I took it out, so I'm waiting on a new pcm from dp-tuner.
