If you have the original carb you might try these folks. http://www.carburetorfactory.com/ ....You send them your carb and they rebuild it rather than send you something that may not fit. They will email you an est. if you send them the No.'s on you carb...They did a 2bbl holley for me for about $120...Works great.
that truck will have a autolite 2100 carb super simple to rebuild order a kit for a f-250 truck with a 390 for that year and it will ocst you about 14.00 and 2 hours worth of work. you will also need a new mounting gasket and a few cans of brake cleaner.
Sorry, I should have been more clear- someone has robbed the carb off this thing at some point so I don't have a point of reference or anything to rebuild.
You should have no trouble getting the right carb for it, walk into Autozone or Pep Boys or whatever and tell them it's a 72 Ford F600 with a 361 and they will have the right one for you. About $100 or so, depends on whether it has electric choke and some other stuff like that, I am not sure.
no parts store will be able to look up anything past a f-350 truck. if you want a simple and reliable carb that is a close match to the the stock one go and buy a 2 bbl carb from a 1972 ford f-250 truck. it will have the 1.23 bore and is super simple and reliable.
Well I did not know that the heavy duty trucks were not in the system. After ford390gashog mentioned that, I checked autozone's webpage, and sure enough, only goes up to 3/4 ton trucks. But, definitely a 2-barrel from a 72 F-250 with the FE motor would work fine. BTW, I checked for 72 F250, and they have the same part # for 72, whether its a 302, 360, or 390. Holley (reman) part 64-5337, and it's $149. Ouch! Plus $35 core!
I guess O'Reilley gave me the wrong carb. It has the heat riser choke thing and heater hose clip. I assume these are are critical to make the choke work and I don't know how to plumb the heat riser deal and the heater hose is just a loop bypass. Can't I just get a manual choke?
Also I have 3 vacuum lines coming out of my distributor to carb. How am I going to know where to hook those up?
Man, I was looking at rebuild kits online for this thing. $550 for a Master rebuild kit was the cheapest I found. Might as well just start looking for a good used motor if it comes to that.
