on my way home from work, I notice a large sign and construction equiptment belonging to the conservation district (used to work for em) in this boggish swampy area along the side of the road.
I was curious so I pulled off the opisite side of the road, It felt like my truck sank, But I got out, read the sign, checked the place out then went back to my truck, figured I better drop in in 4wh. no go.... try rocking ... nothing. I was sunk to the axle's.....
A county cop comes by and asks if he could call a tow truck, I tell him I'll call my wife (4wd durango) Suprisingly, the cop left and I recieved 0 tickets.
I wish I had my camera with me.
Sitting there, I re priortized my "to do" list. New tires are at the top.
5 minutes before my wife showed up, a Farmer shows up in something like this:
The guy jumps out and says He'll pull me out for 20 bucks, 2 minutes later I'm on pavement. (I've added one of these to my "wish list)
I'm going tire shopping and maybe lift shopping tomarow!
HAHA....that's funny cuz just yesterday a buddy called askin me to pull him out of some keep fine sand at the beach. I showed up and he was buried to his frame, tires under the sand and a 03 Dodge 1500 2x4 sittin in front of him that tried to pull him out, LMAO hahaa. The dodge had a flat front tire from a coral rock in the sand, I pulled him out w/ some effort, did a victory donut then went a yanked the chevy suburban out. The dodge truck couldn't get his flat tire off cuz it was rusted bad on the rotor....hittin wouldn't help....so a couple sprays of WD-40 and a toy strap to my truck solved the problem....hehehe. I had total braggin rights that day and they're all havin a BBQ in my honor, yeehawww. Not 8 months ago I was stuck in the same spot w/ my 87 Dodge Power RAm 150, I had to get one of our Military 7-ton trucks to pull me out. Here's a Pic of my Unit's truck
Thats funny. This was awhile back, back when you could trust people, but I got in a major stick in some really deep mud. The type that sucks you in and creates a vacuum that will not let go. Anyways a farmer had one of his rigs parked nearby with the keys in it, not quite as big as that one, but a pretty good sized one, anyways I jumped in and pulled it out in the middle of that goo and pulled my truck out. Parked his rig back where it was and then went and found him at his house. Told him the story and gave him $100 (alot for me back then). He was impressed so he gave me exclusive hunting rights to his private land. Worked out for both of us.
I had to pull a buddy out yesterday. Just sold him a set of BFG A/Ts on rims for his F150 and he gets stuck in the first deep mudhole he comes to. Well I'm still running on the original General Ameritrac's that came with my truck with about 50% of their tread left. Anyway I had enough rope and chain that I could stay out of the deep mud and eventually pulled him out. I thought I was going to get stuck for sure but didn't and i only lost one mud flap.
