door pillar "switch"

trying to fix my buzzer that recenhtly quit going off when I have my lights on, key off, and door open and, while looking around the area, I noticed a switch-like thing on my door pillar, about 8 inches below the striker, that goes completely through the piller, with a green cable coming out of the inside end of it. This cable seems to go to the seat belt retracting device. What is it? It obviously has some function when the door is closed and the switch is depressed, but I'll be damned if I can figure it out. I've got an '87 F-150. Also, I'm not talking about the little switch on the hinge-side that controls the cab interior light when the door is open. Thanks if anyone knows.

that is the seat belt retractor lock switch. if you take the seat belt off, it will not retract till you open the door.
