Battery - solenoid connection

I have recently "inherited" a 1966 Ford F-100 Camper Special (352-V8). It has been sitting in a garage for the past two years and I want to get it running again. It ran great two years ago - I think it just needed a new battery.

I have recently bought a new battery, battery cables and starter solenoid, but unfortunately, I have never been very mechanically inclined and I'm not sure about what gets connected where. Does anybody have access to a diagram or anything showing proper connections from the solenoid to the battery?

I apologize if this question seems a bit elementary, but I am still learning. Any help will be most appreciated.

I don't have a wiring diagram but on my 66 as the starter solenoid is on the fender. the big conection toward the front of the truck is the positive battery cable, the first little *** is a red wire, if the stock wires are still there. the second little *** is a brown wire. the last conection goes to the starter motor. Hope that this will help you out. Not sure what each wire is right off. went and looked at the soleniod on my truck. it is a complete stock truck with 44k on it.

Any power wires go to the battery connection side. The first little stud is the solenoid coil connection. The second little stud is for the ignition coil.

You may need some washers on the large studs. Most replacement battery cables are punched for 3/8" Chevy studs and a loose fit at that. Ford uses 5/16" studs which makes the cables fit badly and not make a good connection. Use silicone dielectric grease on the connections also.

If you have an ammeter in the dash, it will be a little more complicated, but not much.

Thanks for all of your help with the battery/solenoid. I've been driving around for the past two days and she's running great - except for the radiator - it seems to get extremely hot after driving for a while, but it doesn't seem to be overheating. Also, the temperature gauge doesn't work so I don't know if it's too hot or if this is normal. Any ideas?

Change the thermostat. It's at the end of the top radiator hose. Inside the piece the hose hooks to. 2 bolts hold it on.
