Hey,
How do I know which transfer case I have in my '89 F-250 5-speed? Also, What transmission do I have on the same truck? The tranny code on the door sticker is W (or was I reading it backwards & it should be M???)
Please help.
I have the code for the tranny it if was an auto M = 5 speed manual overdrive and
W = Auto C-5. Since it has a bell housing I would easily say it's an M. Sorry I don't have any information on the bell housing.
transfer case should have a tag on t-case, it will be either a Borg and Warner (BW) 1345 or BW 1356.
Transmission tag code should start with E87A or E89A and will be located on tranmission, Get code off transmission and I can tell you what transmission you have.
Well dungeon master, it's a 5-speed overdrive so it must be "M". Ford didn't put the NP transfer case in there trucks in the late '80s? O well, BW should be a good transfer case.
BW is a good transfer case. Change the fluids in the transmission and transfer case regularly with Mecron Transmission oil. BW 1345 (6.5 pints) and BW 1356 (4 pints).
Mazda 5 speed transmission (7.6 pints) and ZF 5 spd transmission (6.8 pints). Here a picture of a Mazda 5 speed https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...102786&width=0
Sorry if Im hijacking your thread...but I didnt think another thread needed to be started for the same question...
I have a 1997 F150 4x4 with the 4.6L V8 and 4R70W automatic transmission. I would also like to know what T-case I have? I havent been under the truck to look for a tag yet. And it's manually shifted with a floor lever.
I have a 1997 F150 4x4 with the 4.6L V8 and 4R70W automatic transmission .... T-case I have?
It should have a Borg Warner 1356 Transfer Case. It should have a round tag with red lettering mounted on the transfer case with the model number, double check the model number on tag. The transfer case uses Mecron fluid.
