I purchased some upholestry for my 67 ford f-100 but the colors are not right. I am thinking about buying some vinyl paint with the exact color and painting the seats. Will the vinyl paint hold? I have done this with the dash board and armrests and the vinyl accepts the vinyl paint great. But on a seat where I am using it every day...any thoughts? thanks
Don't paint the seat! It will crack and fall off, then look worse than it does now.remember the seat constantly flexes, the regular trim panels don't. You have to dye the seat material. Go to a upholstery shop and they can sell you what you need.
I agree, I have dyed certain pieces of Upolstery for years.
Dashes,Steering wheel centers,arm rests,etc.
I have seen the dye being worn off these parts so, I would believe dyeing seats wouyld be horrible in the end.
Dyeing the seat upolstery will make it look like crap after a while because of the reasons suggested above.
