I just took the 460 out of a 70 I have and put it in a 1967 thats in great shape. I know some of the parts are interchangable, but I'm no expert. I would like to know what I should keep from the 70 before I junk it. I don't want to part it out because parts are hard to come by. Thanks.
Most parts interchange among all 67-72 models, so a 70 is good to hang onto for parts. The differences are basically the grille, exterior trim and, I think, the inside door panels.
The instrument cluster also changed in 70. 70-72 had printed wiring on the back and 67-69 did not. So the 70 instrument cluster will not fit the 67 wiring harness. The door panels changed in 68 because the inside latch moved to inside the armrest in 68. In 70 the rears side marker lights were actually lights where as in 67 they were reflectors. Because of the grill changes the front parking/turn lamp assemblies will not fit either.

One minor correction, 1967 did not have side marker lights. The hood side emblems don't have reflectors and no reflectors on the beds either. The law didn't require them until 1968.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 26-Jun-02 AT 09:33 PM (EST)]Does anyone know what emblems went in the rear lower portion of the front fenders on these trucks? Mine has 4 holes all in a straight line in this area. I have looked at dozens of photos of trucks and never seen an emblem in this area. The holes are too high up to be the rocker molding. Thanks in advance.

I also have Camper Special down there on my '69. I have also seen "390" emblems at that area, but they are much smaller and I doubt they would require 4 holes to attach. In '70 they changed the Camper Special emblem and located it on the side of the cowl behind the hood.
Do you happen to have a pic of this emblem? If so please email it to me or post it on here. Thanks. You been gone for awhile?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Jun-02 AT 11:14 PM (EST)]That has to be it cause that is where the holes are. Thank you.

Hey that looks alot like the one on my truck..... except mine has a blue background
I guess it really isnt a handwriting scroll more of a stylized "S" and block letters.
