Checking TPS resistance who what what who

i put a multimeter on my TPS to check the resistance. it didnt read on any of the settings until i put it on one, the right one i suppose and it went from .33 at idle and then dropped down eventually to .01. did i do something wrong here or is my TPS shot dead.

At idle the TP sensor should read somewhere BELOW 1VDC (0.5-0.8 is common). At WOT (wide open throttle) the reading should EXCEED 4VDC. Finally, the transition from low end voltage to high, should be relatively smooth as the throttle is opened. If the reading jumps or is erratic as the sensor moves, its gotta go. As the computer reads the changes in voltage it associates the voltages received as throttle position so an erratic signal sends erroneous info to the computer.
