I just received from a friend a gift of a 1968 F100 Ranger. Imperfections include older than dirt tires, and was once painted with a brush. Low mileage, runs like a dream with a 240 /6. Also has cargo light, and roof light kit. A good project. I am in Canada, and would appreciate finding out where I could get interior door panels, new carpet, and maybe a good wrecker connection for used parts. Also, anyone out there own a '69 Handyman Special (390 auto)? Or even have pics of one. Kinda sentimental for me.
I have been fooling with Ford trucks for 15yrs.
I have had great service form Auto Krafters in
Virgina. They only handle Ford parts their phone number is 540-896-5910.

My grandfather has a '69 Contractor Special F-250 that has a generator under the hood but does not have those boxes on the sides and I am pretty sure that it never came with them. He bought it new and I'll have to ask him about them. Where did you find that picture?
Hey dj, sorry I had to wait ‘till I could use the scanner. That’s interesting about your grandfather’s truck, could you verify it? I lifted that pic out of the ’70 Facts and Features manual. Here’s a pic from the ’69 dealer brochure:
It says there were two packages for the Contractor Special.
Package No. 1
Heavy-duty front and rear springs
Rear step bumper
Convenience group
Dual chrome Western swing-lock mirrors
Contractor box on both sides with key-lock fold-down doors
“Contractor Special” insignia on cowl side
Package No. 2
Items listed above plus under-hood Electric Power Pak
What do you need to verify it? I don't have a scanner or digital camera (may be able to barrow one) I think I have the vin number here somewhere. If not, I could get it next time I am out there. The mirrors on his are not chrome either. He does have the rear step bumper. The only chrome on the truck runs along side of the belt line. It has no power steering or power breaks. It also has a black storage unit behind the seat with a lock that is keyed the same as the ignition. as I said he bought it new.
Do you kbow where to get the contractor special stickers that go on the cowl?
Hey I hear ‘ya, have to beg, borrow or steal when I do pics until I break down and buy my own stuff. Next time you are out to your grandfather’s truck, get the VIN and the D.S.O. on the rating plate. Does he have the Contractor Special emblems on the cowl? Also check the bed for mounting holes for the brackets seen in the black & white pic above. I thought all Contractor Specials came standard with the boxes. Are his mirrors still the swing-locks but painted instead?
Here’s a pic of the lockable in-cab stowage compartment, it was a separate option. It took the place of the in-cab fuel tank so the frame-mounted tank was required. He must have the frame tank only, does the pic look like his stowage compartment? Also, could you check and see if the in-cab tank fuel filler hole is filled in? That’s the way it should be with the frame-only tank option.
