9 inch Diff problems.

9 inch Diff problems.
Hello.
I have a 1990 Model F150 4wd lwb and I am fitting a 9 inch diff from a 1978 f100 it all bolts up but having problems with my standard tailshaft from the 8.8 diff the uni joint caps are to big for the 9inch diff pinion does anyone no if i could just fit a standard 78 model tailshaft to my 90 model or could i get a uni joint to suit my 90 model tailshaft and the 78 model 9 inch diff any help would be great.
Im from australia so things might be different to america.
