I had the same thing happen with my truck, it was the fan. It would disengage when it was supposed too, it was killing both the power and gas mileage.

Replaced ring & pinion gears, machined rear rotors, replaced rear brake pads. Whine is gone, brakes good, I’m satisfied!

it is the ring and pinnin it is setup with to much backlash it will only whine at tip in and light accel normaly starts at about 40 to 45 mph
