Anyone change it yet? GOnna try it this weekend, I bought the filter and the guys at Ford said that you need a special wrench to remove the clamps. I havent gone under the truck yet to take a look. I thought I would see if anyone here has done it already. Usually all you need is a vicegrip and maybe remove a nut or 2. But anyone know anything about this special wrench needed?
Champ - you might do a search on the forum for this topic... there was a string that some guys were adamat about not doing the first iol cahnge themselves due to the difficulty in removing the oil filter - evidently it was EXTREMELY difficult to remove as installed at the factory... they recommended having 1st one done at dealer and then doing it themselves... and these seemed like guys that were VERY familiar with working on their rigs (unlike me ). just an FYI..
Yes. You need a special tool to do it. I believe they sell them at NAPA. If you damage the fuel line you could be looking at a fairly large repair bill.

I probably should have told you that I know from experience. I tried to remove the fuel lines from my ford ranger. I didn't know I needed a special tool and I broke one of the small rings and gas started leaking out on the end. I was lucky though, because I realized I was getting over my head, and took the truck to ford to have the work done.
The service manager said if you damage the connecting end of the fuel line, then the whole line must be replaced. The line that runs from the filter all the way to the engine (at least on the ranger) is pretty expensive to replace.
