What kind of limited slip diff do you want? Is this going in an 8.8" axle? There are a thousand choices, and it comes down to price, effort, reliability, and performance.
I would like to put an Eaton in my 8.8. Is it as simple as buying the unit and throwing it in, or are there other parts that I need for the conversion?
I'm not familar with that one, but if it replaces the carrier you'll have to get your gears resetup by a pro. There are also options that let you just replace the spider gears and you don't have to touch the gears. Not sure if that's how this one works or not. Maybe call a local axle and driveline shop and start asking questions? Their product literature should tell you what you need as well.
I know the lockrite no-slip you can install with normal hand tools in under an hour, so they say.
