Hello,
I have 98 4x4 Ranger with vacuum activate hubs. I had removed one of the plastic hubs 1-2 years ago to service the hub seal. I had a real hard time removing the hub at that time. I now believe that one of wheel bearings \ hubs is failing. I just got one of the Ford Service Manuals now. It shows a special tool to remove the hubs – is this necessary? I was using 3-4 screw drivers to remove it. Also in the Ford manual it shows the hub having a replaceable needle bearing. What is the deal with the needle bearing? I called my Ford dealer’s parts department and they seemed confused as to whether the new hub came with the needle bearing installed? Finally, where is the cheapest place to get a hub?
Thanks in advance.
Rick
