cleanup

Something you might try is course saw dust or wood shaving's such as used for animal beddy is cheap to aquire and very effective for soak up of most garage liquids.--gas,oil,antifreeze, water, snow drip when you have to crawl underneath. dispose in trash or some case burnin your shop barrel stove. chuck

cleanup

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Feb-02 AT 08:21 AM (EST)] The problem w/sand is that it won't absorb liquids like saw dust .
I think Floor dry and kitty stuff is to slow but better than nothing. caddy 53

Kitty litter and Floor Clean are clay products, meaning they are porous, which allow them to clean up spills, sand can't really absorb since it isn't porous. And that concludes today's science lesson, class dismissed...

Interestinly I have just recently tried using sawdust. I have used the asorbent stuff you buy, but it is so dusty, if your knees brush the floor where it has been, it gets all over them.
In contrast, I had just cut up some Bois d' arc (bodark) trees an had a big pile of its sawdust. In contrast to oak or pine, this sawdust is very fine, due to the extreme hardness of the wood. I decided to try it on an oil spill and it worked great. Afterwards, I vacuumed it up and there was no dust or oil left.

I use good ole dry dirt. It seams to work pretty good. It's also very cheap.

the floor absorbant we use doesn't leave dust, and we don't have to clean it up afterwards. it works good. Hi+Dri

I second the sawdust method. Occassional cutting projects fill the shop vac. I dip from it when needed.

As a note of caution fine sawdust is not flammable it is explosive so be careful near flame, sparks or hot exhaust systems.
