I am thinking about putting an FE into my 67 F 100 shortbed. I am not sure how much I should pay for a complete truck engine in rebuildable condition. Can anyone tell me what these engines are going for these days? Most yards near me haven't had an FE around in a while. I would like a 390 but will consider a 360. I have a tired 302 in my parts truck that I was planning to use in the '67 but I want the hp and torque that the FE's delivered. I had a 460 but I traded it for my parts truck. I am not sure if that was a great idea as far as engines are concerned. What would be nice would to be to find an FE coupled to a B/W T-18 4 speed trans. I would be willing to trade the 302 and 3 speed manual for an FE. It's a '76, It runs good and would make a good rebuild I live in Southern MD but would travel to PA WV or VA to get an FE or deliver the 302 in a trade.

about 200 or so, Ive paid 200 canadien for a 390 that's
just for rebuilding. I have a friend whos yard is
full of fe engines mostly 390s, he was loaded when
he sold it to me though.
I saw a set of heads on an FE in my local pick and pull and snagged them for 60 bucks, just for grins I measured the stroke! 3 7/8th's. Went back and got the block for 80 bucks. Heads are rebuilt/resurfaced, block still has the Ford logo inserts. Everything is at the machine shop right now. I got my Silvolite 1130+30 pistons yesterday. Cant wait! Point is there are millions of FE's out there and it seems few people need or want them.
