Frame restoration
Has anyone ever removed the rear leaf spring mount castings from the frame to clean and paint. Then, re-attached them with either rivits or something else ? ( 55' F-100 ) Thanks, Joe

I drilled mine out and replaced with bolts however, you are probably going to need new brackets, bushings, pins, etc.

jaye, nice pics in your gallery.
The only thing I replaced on mine was the swing brackets and pins/bushings; along with the leaf springs; both on the front and rear.

Drilled them out to remove, repair, paint the frame liners, sandblast, Por-15 the frame and grade 8's all around. ('48 F-5)

Had to take all the cross members out along with the rear-front spring and the front-rear spring mounts off to get the liners out.

This may be a dumb question but what do you mean by "liners" and would the '55 F-100 have them ?

I'm curious too.
At first I thought they were talking about leaf spring liners.

I'm thinking they mean a bushing in the leaf spring mount. At first it seemed like some sort of inner frame rail like my '43 ****** jeep has. Thought my frame was missing something for a minute there.

The heavier trucks used the same frame but had inner liners like doublers in the frame to stiffen it.
