I have seen the original 1957 "F-100 'Rocket'" hood emblem and it is short. I've seen the 1960 "F-100'Rocket'" emblem, it is long. What length was the 1958 F-100 emblem?
Thanks, Dave
Well, many months later, I found a right and left side "arrow" hood orament for a 1958 F-series. The shaft of the "arrow" has the word "FORD" cast into it. The is a 4-inch section on the shaft that is recessed. I suspect that the factory had an additional overlay piece for the various models that fit over the recess.
Does anybody have a spare 1958 "F-100" overlay sitting around. Could I buy it? Could I borrow it to make a latex mold for later casting?
I now have a left/right pair of 1957 F-100 side emblems I'd like to see find a new home. They have a little pitting in the fine background line behind the F-100 and need to be rechromed.
one of the side emblems was broken on my '59 panel, so I started grabbing every one that looked close. i have ended up with one pair in good shape that have a smaller , more old-fashioned 'ford' script than the blockier 'FORD' on the other two sets. The smaller script is, I understand, a 1959. The other sets are 58 and maybe 60. I will part with the larger script emblems to any one who needs them.
Simply tape a check for $20 to the bottom of an original bench seat for a 1959 panel, and mail it to me.
Just kidding. Glad to help if these are what are needed. post pics of desired emblems if possible.
