I was wondering when installin a winshiled on an f-100, do you put the chrome in the rubber before the windshield or do you put the chrome in after youve put the windshield in the truck?
well why i was askin is because i just bought a new widshiled rubber and got some chrome. i had 2 guys from a glass shop come up today to try and put it in and they worked for about 2 hours trying to get the chrome in the rubber and couldnt. Finnally they put the windshield in the truck and decided to try to put the chrome in afterwards. They still couldnt get the chrome in. They left and someone else is coming back tommorrow to try to get it in. Is there a way to get the chrome in without taking the windshiled back out??? Im afraid it will break if they take it back out
the glass guys broke our windshield-- i think some of the w/s rubbers made overseas are made wrong-/-the expensive rubber is cheaper than a broken windshield
also might want to install the bottom first then pull in sides and top
let us know how they did--swampystumps
I just bought my front and rear glass seals. I also picked up a sliding rear window from one of the Texas board members. I ain't messing with it, string trick or no string trick... I'm calling the Safelite installation guy.
GolferSA,
I plan on buying the seals also. Let me know how it turns out when you have them installed and a ball park figure for installation. I am actually going to get the exterior rubber kit that comes with windshield seal, back window seal, door seals and cowl lacing.
