Hello everyone!
First I'll start off I have some good news! I picked my motor up from the shop last night... all machined and ready to go! One thing the machinist suggested was getting a new oil pan. Mine is kinda beat up, dented, dinged, etc. What or where is a good source of pans? Should I get a new one or a used one? Do those Moroso deep extra capacity pans help at all? I think my old pan has seen better days so I probably will search out something better. Also, he suggested getting stainless steel exhaust bolts. Mine are kinda "tired" anyways... (three broke off when taking them off a few months ago). Is there a place I can find the correct size for a 360? Thanks!!
Look at Jegs or Summit. They carry a wide selection of oil pans. I personally run a Milidon oil pan on my race 390 with good luck. The are a bit pricey but worth the money. They have a gold irite finish and do not need painting. I think they have a 7 qt. pan for 4x4's. You will also want to get a new pick-up to match your new pan.
Okay, it looks like I found everything I'm looking for.. I tried Jegs and Summit racing.. they had the bolts. Unfortunately, no pan. Autokrafters has pans for about 80 bucks. I still think mine is ok, but its probably not worth the risk. Here is my next question:
I noticed ARP has two different bolt sets.. one in stainless and the other in some sort of black metal oxide. The machine shop suggested stainless because they won't rust. Has anyone used stainless before? Will I run into any problems using them? Is their anything different about using stainless vs the other types out there? I see they have entire bolt sets for like 93 bucks at Jegs. That covers pan, timing cover, intake, valve covers, exhaust manifold, water pump and whatever other misc parts.
as far as Stainless or Oxide, I choose stainless when motor is highly detailed, (and stainless put on after paint) and I choose Black Oxide for when they would be covered by paint. for the difference in cost, I almost always choose Black oxide.
moroso#mor20610 oil pan will work or mildon#-31130 will work too, moroso oil pan is 8 1/2 inches deep and the mildon oil pan is 8 inches deep and both of those are front sump oil pans
Either of those two will work on an F250 4x4? I know that there are frame differences than all the rest.. just wanted to make sure before I order. Thanks!
If you are still in this issue I recommend you replace the bolts with good quality ones at a hardware stoe that are grade 6 or beter. I used to race the 428 FE series engines and welded up my own oil pans. Yo don't necessarily need a deep one just extra capacity. I took a stock one and got some sheet metal and made side boxes on the pan for extra volume. Unless your buzzin the motor at 6500 RPM all day just do what I did and increase the sides of your pan for volume. I drove it on the street for years and also never had a clearence issue. If you do go for a deep pan the oil pump pick up tube must be modified and screen to pan bottom checked for proper clearence.

Jamesf250, what is wrong with your original pan that your machine shop thinks you need a new one ? Are you running a front or a rear sump pan ? The front sump pans are not so great for oiling an FE....the problem is even worse in a 4x4 when you are climbing hills and such. I would have to imagine that you have enough room to run any style of pan you like. What are you going to use this truck for ? DF
