Chad, It should work, but I recommend that you take it to a radiator shop and have it checked for leaks, and if it is sound have them boil it out, or better yet spend about $180.00 or so bucks on a new one.

Chad, what fan are you using? When I did this swap, I used an '86 460, and everything bolted up fine into the truck, but I had to do some mixing and matching.
The '80s fan was too large in diameter, it wouldn't go under the upper radiator hose.
I am using my '66 (designed; a brand new one) 4 core radiator, a 7-blade fan from a '77 F-150 that had a 400 motor, and the '80s fan clutch.
The '86 water pump has a larger shaft.
The '86 fan clutch fits the larger shaft, but the '70s fan clutch will not. The '70s 460 water pump has a smaller shaft.
The 70's fan blade fits the 80's fan clutch.
With a 190 thermostat, I don't get above the middle of Normal at 70 MPH running empty.
It doesn't get out of normal at idle, either.

mock up

after I get that darn bed off I'm starting on the engine compartment, what I have in my possesion is the 77 radiator(with tranny cooler tank) a 19" flex fan which may be to big to clear the upper hose?does griffin or be cool make a bolt in radiator for my application, eventually I would like to go to an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans buts its not in my price range right now.One more question I need a passenger side tail light bucket do you know anyone who sells these?

There is a spare on you old bed?

Thats a yard or E bay item.

Griffin makes an aluminum radiator. very expensive and made to order.

The boat anchor radiator you have may not have the inlets and outlets correctly placed. Best bet is to order a four core modine for the 385 series and be safe.

For restorers yes they typically bring with the bracket and bolts around 50 to a 100..

The spare is not wort much, the brackets and trim something.
