I have all the wiring for the dash lights and dome lamp figured out. Both are fed power from the light switch. My question is which part of the switch feeds these circuits. By that I mean is it the rheostat or is it fed power by pulling the **** out.
Thank you,

I will take a shot at it, off the top of my head as my diagrams are packed away. The dash lights are fed power from the rheostat and the dome light is fed from a switch on the rheostat that is made when the headlight switch is rotated fully to the right (ps right is a guess it could be left).
So the rheostat dims and brightens the dash and the switch turns the dome light on/off with no dimming.
I figured out the problem. I need a new headlight switch. I might have been able to use the old one with some cleaning but curiosity got the best of me and now I have about 30 pieces of a headlight switch! LOL Thank god they ain't that expensive.

Ok I got my new headlight switch installed but the dome light still doesn't work. It has a brand new bulb in it. I do not have the door switches in the circuit so what I have is:
Light Switch-->Black/Blue Stripe Wire--->Connector--->black/blue stripe wire---->connector--->light housing.
My truck never had the switches or the wires going to them. From what I can gather from the wiring diagram the way it is hooked up is correct for just having a light and no switches. There is another schematic that shows the black/blue stripe wire coming from the switch going to the door switches then from the door switches to the light, (or so). I turned the **** on the headlight switch all the way to the left and I have 12VDC from the center post of fixture to outer ring of fixture. Put bulb in, no light. Try new bulb, no light. Measure resistance of bulb, just in case, small ohmage (good). Now what?
Edit: My schematic shows a ground wire coming from fixture but mine doesn't have a wire. I was guessing that it gets this ground through the housing so I scraped the mounting points free of all paint and primer and tried it that way. Still no light.

rubberpants here.
Have you tested the socket? I had a tail light giving me the same problem before. It had a build up on the little contacts inside the socket. I would test the socketwith a meter/t-light. Maybe it's just gunk.
I takes more than that to ruin my day.
Yes, I took it as a pun.
If you have power at your socket and a good bulb, try running a ground wire from somewhere with the bulb in the socket, and then touch that good grounded wire to the outside of the socket. Sounds more like a ground problem.
