Hay guys I have a 06 f250 4x4 I'm having a hard time using my 5th wheel hitch at night when I turn on my cargo light the dome light comes on and I cant see out the tinted windows. Looking to put my cargo light on a upfitter switch. can any of you help with what wire or wires I need to connect to?
i did this on my brothers 05, you will have to pick up a diode from radio shack. they come in packs of 2 for around a dolllar. i dont remember color codes for the upfitter switches, but someone else will be able to help you with that. once you get the power wire run up to the cargo light, cut the blue and black (or black and blue i cant remember) wire, insert the diode so the striped side is closest to the bulb, then connect your switched power wire up to the striped side also. i'd recommend soldering these connections for longevity. if this isnt making sense just ask i'll redefine it later.

I just joined and have no idea how to navigate this site yet. I also would like to use an upfitter switch (just installed an 24" LED light bar on my brush guard and used an upfitter switch) to control the cargo/bed light without the interior dome lights coming on.
I would imagine that there is some way to wire it without having to run another power wire to the light itself.

If you look up two posts there is a pretty good explanation. Here is another idea... Bed lights under the rail.
